Every Year for the past 14 years, Sheshatshiu elder Elizabeth Penashue has ventured out on snow shoes with family and guests into the Mealy Mountains. Having the opportunity to attend this wonderful walk in the Winter of 2009, I am excited to share that Elizabeth will be walking on February 18th, 2013. She has committed her life to protecting the land and culture for the future generations. In the last fourteen years, she has led a canoe trip and spring snowshoe walk yearly to educate the people about the importance of Mother Earth. “Innu Pikasiun Nutshimit,” the foundation that supports Elizabeth’s walks, canoe trips and activities that help protect Innu culture and environment.
