A closer look at our panelists from Imagine Canada
Devon Hurvid, Panelist
Devon is a young professional in the Canadian non-profit sector. She is the Manager of Grant Connect – formerly loved as the Canadian Directory to Foundations & Corporations – an Imagine Canada social enterprise with a 45 year legacy. As part of this role, Devon is the creator and chief editor of the newsletter, Grantseeker Monthly and is a frequent presenter at workshops, conferences, and online webinars. Devon has a Bachelor of Business Administration, a minor in mathematics, as well as a background in project management. Devon has a passion for nonprofit innovation through technology, and was the lead product architect for the recently released Grant Connect database. Devon enjoys fundraising for many of her favorite causes and currently volunteers her time assisting JUMP Math, an extraordinary non-profit dedicated to helping students reaching their full potential
Margot Porter, Panelist
Margot is the newest addition to the Imagine Canada team and works as the Account Services Representative for Grant Connect, the newly designed upgrade to the Canadian Directory to Foundations and Corporations. With a background in both business and the nonprofit sectors, she has a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by non-profits and works to connect the resources at Imagine Canada with these organizations. Margot has a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and a Diploma in International Development from the University of British Columbia. She most recently wrapped up a six month volunteer internship in Uganda with Canadian NGO Shanti Uganda, working to improve rural Ugandan women’s economic horizons through small business development, but she is happy to be back on Canadian soil to explore and support the many vital non-profit initiatives here at home.
